« Paris plage », the place to be in August

You are not dreaming, Paris is going under metamorphosis for the entire summer. A beach has been set on for 2 months on the famous banks of the Seine river, in the heart of Paris, near the famous Saint Louis Island.

A swimming pool, some taï-chi lessons, concerts, transitory libraries, water activities like kayak and oar, sportive animations, dancing and game of bowls, everything is possible in this lovely city! Even a “Paris plage” for kids with artistic activities has been settled to take care of children while parents are enjoying fresh drinks on lying chairs.

Now you can relax and take a sunbath, facing the Quai d’Orsay, the Bastille or Notre Dame.

L'Assomption

Today in France is a legal holiday. Christians are celebrating the « Assumption of Mary », the mother of Jesus Christ, the prophet who is at the origin of the Christianity. The belief is that Mary, at the end of here life, was physically taken up to heaven.

Since 1905 and the separation between state and Church, France is a secular state. But most of the holy days are still days off like Christmas and Easter which respectively correspond to the the birth and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Still, Catholicism is the most popular religion among the French people with 64% of the population. 26 % don't follow any religion, 3 % are Muslims, 2,6 % are Protestants, and 1% are Jews. There are also 770 00 Buddhists.

In India, Christianity is the third largest religion with 24 millions of believers who are concentrated mainly in the south of the country.
