While most of the French people are rushing to the South of France for holidays, the North becomes more and more popular too, maybe thanks to the 2nd biggest success of the French box office, "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis!".
This movie, directed by Banny Boon, a French humorist, tells the story of a guy working for the French Post in South of France who will be transfered to Bergues, in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, to manage a new post office. Arriving with a lot of prejudices on North of France and the people living there, he will finally manage to adapt himself in this new environment and discover a charming life.
With a total budget of 11 million €, "Bienvenue chez les ch'tis" attracted almost 4,5 millions French people in theaters within the first week of broadcasting! The movie was also a great success abroad with more than 1 million spectators in Germany and Belgium among others. 2 adaptations are already planned, in Itlay and in the US where the Warner Bros and Overbooked Entertainment (the society of Will Smith) bought the film rights.
